L&M plastering completed an over boarding and skimming of a previous artex ceiling in Sutton Coldfield. The artex was extremely thick and almost impossible to simply skim over as this would have had imperfections. We recommended that to have the perfect finish, it would need to be over boarded with 12.3mm plasterboard to be fixed to the old ceiling joists suing 60mm dry wall screws. This required 5 screw per run which was then taped up with scrim tape to strengthen the boards and to avoid cracking. The ceiling was then over boarded and skimmed/re-plastered to give a perfect smooth finish ready for decoration.
